What the regulation requires

The 6 obligations of the EU Battery Regulation — and how DPP Central covers them

It applies to EV, industrial batteries above 2 kWh and LMT (e.g. e-bikes). As the importer or distributor placing them on the EU market, you carry the compliance responsibility.

Serial-level passport

A unique digital passport per individual battery (not per model) for batteries above 2 kWh.

DPP Central issues a passport per serial number, with batches & serials on every product.
Carbon footprint

A carbon footprint declaration per functional unit, in a standardized format.

Structured carbon-footprint fields with documentation, ready to publish and audit.
Recycled content

Declared share of recovered cobalt, lithium, nickel and lead.

Materials & recycled-content tracking per component, with full version history.
Supply-chain due diligence

A due-diligence policy for raw materials and the supply chain.

A supplier portal to collect data & certificates directly from your suppliers.
Data carrier / QR on the product

Every battery carries a QR pointing to its passport, following GS1 rules.

Ready-made GS1 Digital Link QR, NFC and RFID — with analytics on every scan.
Public & registry access

Data accessible online and interoperable with the European registry.

Public passport pages plus a REST API & exports for integration.

Why not a €29 model-only tool?

Cheap tools issue one passport per model — which does NOT meet the regulation's serial-level requirement for batteries above 2 kWh.

A non-compliant model passport can mean products held at the border or penalties. Serial-level is the only safe path.

How it works in 3 steps

1
1. Add the product & serials

Create the battery product and add batches & serial numbers — with Excel import if you have many.

2
2. AI document recognition

Upload invoices & certificates; the AI reads them and auto-fills your compliance data.

3
3. Publish with a GS1 QR

Publish the passport and print the GS1 QR for the battery — ready for audit and for your customer.

What is a Battery Passport?
A digital record, accessible via QR, holding a battery lifecycle data: composition, carbon footprint, recycled content, performance and end-of-life information. It is mandated by the EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542.
When does it become mandatory?
From 18 February 2027 for EV batteries, industrial batteries above 2 kWh and LMT batteries placed on the EU market.
Which batteries and whom does it affect?
EV, industrial batteries above 2 kWh and LMT (e.g. e-bikes). Responsibility falls on the economic operator placing them on the market — manufacturer, importer or distributor.
What data does a battery passport contain?
Core battery passport data includes the carbon footprint per functional unit, the material composition and the share of recycled content (cobalt, lithium, nickel, lead), plus performance, durability and state-of-health information. DPP Central captures every field in structured, auditable form.

Do not wait for the 18/02/2027 deadline
